Rob Kohler, Lee Kohler and Clay Green |
THIS WORLD is a trio of accomplished,
gutsy musicians playing a rich and original combination of classic rock
sounds and rhythms, world music, and hymn-like harmonies. LEE KOHLER'S
classical training, ROB KOHLER'S jazz experience, and CLAY GREEN'S
multicultural percussion set-up interact to create an honestly distinct
music. The CD, THIS WORLD, combines musical talent with Native American
singers, children's voices, and soprano saxophone. Mixed by Grammy
award-winning Cookie Marenco and recorded at a rural Montana studio,
the CD is proof that great musicians can collaborate to make great
music regardless of geographical location. |

This World 1 the signs above 2 fire or light 3 inner city 4 fanfare/thisworld 5 harvest circle 6 all is revealed 7 the river 8 all life (nation) On the 1996 This World trio CD, brothers Rob and Lee Kohler, bass and keyboard, and Green, percussion, mix their own sounds with Native American singers, recordings ofyouthful joy, and soprano saxophone, to add rich layers of sound and meaning to the trio Mixed by award-winning producer Cookie Marenco, the quality of this recording matches the players' abilities. Lee Kohler writes lyrics. His extensive organ and classical piano training are evident in his composing and playing, combining the traditional with his own concept. In 1989, he led the trio to the Montreux Music Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. Rob Kohler has a distinctive solo voice, and is an aggressive bass player, evidenced by his Who's Who jazz experience at the Stanford jazz workshop, where he regularly works as a bass instructor. Green is an exciting composer and percussionist. Often the sounds of his drums explode and whisper in the same song. |
